CC PRO TOOL

The CC Pro Tool is a CNC machined and polished transparent Combustion Chamber volume measuring device, ideal for any engine builder looking to get the perfect compression ratio with every cylinder.

We have a range to cover a variety of bore sizes and engine types.
Select your engine from the options below and we’ll pick out the best size tool for you.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Position the Tool on the fire-face of the Cylinder Head
  2. Close the vacuum relief valve
  3. Operate the vacuum pump up to the maximum vacuum pressure
  4. Fill the chamber using a fluid from a burette
  5. Take your readings

How do I find my Sealing Diameter?

The sealing diameter is the flat surface area on the Cylinder Head where the Head Gasket would normally seal against. You need to measure the largest diameter that fits within any passage holes (water, oil, head bolts, etc.) and any adjacent combustion chamber.
You can do this using our free CC Pro Tool Ring Gauge.

From Prodrive to Pro Tool

My first real immersion into the world of high-performance race engines came during my time at Aston Martin Racing (Prodrive), where I was entrusted with building engine sub-assemblies for GT1, GT2, and GT3 specification race cars.

Among the many precision-driven tasks was the meticulous process of measuring cylinder head combustion chamber volumes across both V8 and V12 platforms, an essential step before final assembly.
Those who have spent time in the build shop will understand; after measuring countless chambers across multiple seasons of engines, the process never becomes less demanding… or more enjoyable.

It was also an era defined by a deep appreciation for quality tools. Like many engineers, I became a committed Snap-On enthusiast, rarely letting the franchise truck leave without adding something new to the collection!

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of designing a wide range of powertrain components for both automotive and motorsport applications. Along the way, I’ve encountered, and critically assessed, numerous techniques for combustion chamber measurement, each with its own compromises. All of this experience has led to something I once could only have imagined early in my career: the opportunity to develop and share a purpose-built solution.
The result is a bespoke combustion chamber volume measuring tool, engineered to deliver improved accuracy, repeatability, and efficiency, helping engine builders achieve more, with greater confidence, on every build.

SUPERSEDing THE OLD PROCESS

GREASE SEAL

Traditional volume checks can be messy, inconsistent, and time-consuming, relying on applying grease to the head or Perspex plate, bringing components together and simply hoping for a reliable seal. Even then, results can be uncertain, with variables like grease thickness affecting accuracy and repeatability.

The CC Pro Tool eliminates these challenges entirely. With no grease required, the process becomes faster, cleaner, and far more consistent. In many cases, the tool delivers such a precise and secure seal that the entire cylinder head can be lifted confidently from the bench, providing immediate, tangible proof of performance.

TRAPPED AIR BUBBLES

Achieving an accurate seal with a flat Perspex plate often comes with a frustrating challenge; trapped air bubbles that are difficult to remove and can compromise measurement accuracy.

This not only slows the process down but also introduces uncertainty into your results.

The CC Pro Tool is engineered to eliminate this issue entirely. Its precision-machined funnel profile and integrated filler neck are specifically designed to guide fluid smoothly into the chamber, preventing air entrapment. The result is a faster, more reliable process with consistent, repeatable measurements you can trust.

SPILLAGE & OVERFILL

Even after achieving a proper seal and eliminating air bubbles, overfilling the chamber can undo all that careful work wasting time and compromising accuracy.

The CC Pro Tool is designed with this in mind, giving you greater control and confidence during measurement.

Its dual level indicator markers on the filler neck provide a built-in safety net: If you overshoot the first mark, a second reference point allows you to recover quickly without restarting the process. The result is less frustration, reduced waste, and a smoother, more efficient workflow.
